how to make carrot juice

This raw carrot juice recipe makes a lovely fresh juice that is naturally sweet and so smooth it's almost creamy.

ingredients - makes approx 8oz, one cup, or 250ml

    * 4 large organic carrots



How To Make

   1. Wash carrots using water and a stiff vegetable brush to remove any dirt.
   2. Remove the green tops and slice the carrots to fit your juicer.
   3. Juice and enjoy.

Ingredients

    * 8 medium juicy tomatoes
    * Tabasco sauce or cayenne pepper to taste (optional)

Directions

   1. Wash the tomatoes.
   2. Cut to fit your juicer.
   3. Juice and serve.

When making the above recipe I passed the tomato pulp to extract all the tasty juice.

Tomatoes are nearly 95% water, and can be blended to make raw Gazpacho soup.

Pineapple and Carrot Juice Recipe

A sweet attractive drink, full of beta-carotene.Ingredients

    * 1 to 2 cups of pineapple
    * 2 large carrots, or equivalent.

How to Make
 I slice the pineapple into long chunky strips, and chop the carrot up nice and small.

   1. Slice off a generous slice of pineapple, cut off its skin, and chop to fit your juice.
   2. Wash the carrots, and chop to fit your juicer.
   3. Juice and enjoy.

Pineapple and Celery Juice Recipe

Another delicious drink - excellent after a hard work out, or any time you need to rehydrate.

Ingredients

    * 2 cups of pineapple
    * 4 sticks of celery

How to Make

   1. Peel the pineapple, and slice to fit your juicer.
   2. Wash the celery.
   3. Juice and enjoy.

Pineapple Juice Recipe with Cucumber

Ingredients

    * 1 cup of pineapple
    * ½ cucumber

How to Make

   1. Chop the peel off the pineapple.
   2. Wash the cucumber - peel if waxed.
   3. Slice the fruit to fit your juicer.
   4. Juice and enjoy.

My favorite juice for a hot summer's day. Lovely as it is, or serve over ice.

Pineapple Juice Recipe with Beetroot

Wow, this one is gorgeous. For a pinker drink add even less beetroot.

Ingredients

    * 4 cups of pineapple
    * Half a small beetroot

How to Make

When I make this with my Samson Juicer I slice the pineapple into long chunky strips, and chop the beetroot up nice and small.

   1. Cut the skin off the pineapple.
   2. Wash and remove the beetroot skin if it is tough.
   3. Slice the pineapple, and chop the beetroot to fit your juicer.
   4. Juice and Serve.

Lovely as is, or serve over ice.

Ingredients

    * 1 grapefruit
    * 2 oranges
    * 2 stalks of celery

How to Make

   1. Peel the oranges and the grapefruit.
   2. Wash the celery.
   3. Juice and serve in a big glass.

Sometimes I like to add a couple of stalks of celery for extra minerals and a bit of healthy salt. This is great after a run, or whenever your need to rehydrate.

Ingredients

    * 1 pink grapefruit
    * 2 oranges

How to Make
Method 1:

   1. Cut the citrus fruit in half.
   2. Juice manually using a citrus juicer.
   3. Serve in a tall glass.

Method 2:

   1. Peel the citrus fruit. I like to score around them and peel the skin off in large quarters.
   2. Slice or break into segments to fit your juicer.

how to make mixed vegetables with peanut sauce (gado-gado)

Ingredients:

    * 3 large potatoes
    * 8 oz fresh bean sprouts
    * 1 lb. green string beans
    * 3 carrots
    * ½ small cabbage
    * 1 green cucumber
    * 3 hard-boiled eggs
    * Peanut sauce

Instructions:

    * Boil potatoes, peel and cut in slices.
    * Wash bean sprouts and pinch the brown tail off if preferred. Pour boiling water over bean sprouts, then rinse under cold tap. Drain well.
    * Cut green string beans in diagonal size or bite-size lengths and cook in lightly salted boiling water until just tender. Drain well. Beans should still be crisped to bite.
    * Scrub carrots and cut into thin strips, cook until tender. Drain well.
    * Slice cabbage and discard the center stem. Wash it out in boiling salted water for a minute or two, until it's tender but not limp. Drain and refresh it under cold water.
    * Peel cucumber skin and slice thin.
    * Slice the hard-boiled eggs into flower like.
    * Put all the vegetables in a large platter with each type of vegetables in each own section and serve cold accompanied by warm peanut sauce, which is poured over individual serving.
    * Ready made Peanut sauce can be bought at Asian Supermarket. You only need to add water to it. Or you can make peanut sauce from scratch.

Makes 6-8 servings.

HOW TO MAKE FRIED SOYBEAN CURD (TAHU GORENG)

Ingredients:

    * ¼ lb. green beans, cut diagonally
    * 4 firm soybean curd squares
    * ¼ cup vegetable oil for deep-frying
    * 3 shallots, sliced
    * 2 cloves garlic, sliced
    * 2 fresh red holt chilies, sliced
    * ½ tsp. salt
    * 2 Tbs. sweet soy sauce
    * 1 Tbs. tomato paste

   
Instructions:

    * Blanch the green beans on boiling water for 5 minutes, drain.
    * Cut the bean curd into slices 1-inch long and ¼-inch thick. Drain the slices on paper towels, patting them dry. Heat the oil in a wok or deep skillet and fry the slices over medium heat for 3 minutes, or until light brown. Remove and set aside. Remove all but 1 Tbs. oil in the wok.
    * In a food processor or a mortar, blend the shallots, garlic, chilies and salt to form a paste. Heat the oil in the wok and stir-fry the paste over medium heat for about 2 minutes. Add the green beans and bean curd, sweet soy sauce, and tomato paste. Stir-fry the mixture for 3 minutes. Serve warm

Makes 4 servings.

how to make potatoes croquetto(kroket kentang)

Ingredients:

    * 500 gr. potatoes, boiled and mashed
    * 25 gr. powdered milk
    * salt to taste
    * ground pepper to taste
    * 2 eggs
    * fine breadcrumbs
    * vegetable oil for deep frying

Instructions:

    * Blend mashed potatoes with powdered milk, salt, pepper and 1 beaten egg until smooth and set aside.
    * Take 2 Tbs. of the mashed potatoes mixtur and pit it on a piece of buttered banana leaf or wax paper.  Flatten the piece of dough into an oval shaped with buttered finger.  Put 1½ tsp. stuffing in the middle of the oval dough.  Fold over the piece of dough and path into an oval roll.
    * Beat the remaining egg.  Dip the croquettes in turn in the breadcrumbs, egg and breadcrumbs again.
    * Deep fry the croquettes in hot oil until they are golden brown.

Stuffing Ingredients:

    * 2 Tbs. margarine
    * 2 small shallots, chopped
    * 1 clove garlic, chopped
    * 200 gr. ground beef
    * 5 carrots, peeled and finely cubed
    * 125 cc water
    * salt to taste
    * ground pepper to taste
    * 1 Tbs. flour

Stuffing Instructions:

    * Saute the shallots and garlic with 2 Tbs. margarine over medium heat.  Add the ground beef and the carrots.  Stir well for a minute or two.
    * Add water, salt and pepper.   Simmer while stirring occasionaly, until it's done.
    * Finally add the flour that has been dissolved in a littel warer while stirring.
    * Remove and let it cool.



Makes 12 croquettes.

HOW TO MAKE FRIED FERMENTED SOYBEAN CAKES (TEMPE GORENG)

Ingredients:

    * 1 clove garlic, crushed
    * 1 tsp. salt
    * ¼ lb. fermented soybean cake (tempe), sliced 2 inches long and ½ inches thick
    * ¼ cup vegetable oil
    * 2 hot red chilies, seeded and sliced
    * ¼ tsp. shrimp paste (terasi)
    * ¼ cup chopped ripe tomato

    Instructions:

    * Mix together the garlic and salt, rub this all over the fermented soybean cake. Set it aside for about 15 minutes.
    * Heat the oil in a wok or skillet, fry the fermented soybean cake over medium heat for about 3 minutes, or until browned, and transfer to a platter.
    * In a food processor or a mortar, blend the chilies, shrimp paste and tomato to form a paste. Serve the fried fermented soybean cakes with the paste.

Makes 5 servings.
